FLORIDA SMOKE FREE ASSOCIATION JOINS VTA IN FIGHT TO SAVE VAPOR

Tallahassee, FL – Today, the Florida Smoke Free Association (FSFA) announced it has joined the Vapor Technology Association to extend its fight to save the vapor industry in Florida and across the country just as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and state legislatures across the country have placed a target on the back of the game changing vapor industry. FSFA was founded in 2014 to promote tobacco harm reduction and align its efforts at the state and federal level.

The Vapor Technology Association is the leading vapor industry advocacy organization in the United States, representing the manufacturers, small business owners and entrepreneurs who are developing innovative and quality vapor products and providing adult consumers with a better alternative to traditional combustible products.

“We know firsthand the difficulty of winning battles in the state capital and, to date, we have been successful in doing so,” said TD Bowen, President of the Florida Smoke Free Association and owner of Moon Mountain, Inc. “However, because our industry is under withering attack by so-called public health organizations who seek to eliminate vapor as a healthier alternative to tobacco, it is critical that we join together to fight vapor-killing regulations and legislation not only in the state legislatures across the country, but also in Washington, DC.  VTA has the leadership team and infrastructure to best lead that fight. We are excited to be a part of the team.”

“Coordinating with an established and well-organized state advocacy organization like FSFA, we will be able to more effectively implement a multi-state coordinated strategy to defeat misguided laws at the state level. In addition, working together with FSFA we will be better able to promote the adoption by Congress of the Cole-Bishop Amendment that provides responsible regulation of vapor products as the new technology that they are rather than the tobacco products that they are not,” said Tony Abboud, VTA National Legislative Director. “We are excited to have them as part of the team as we fight for the small businesses and consumers that make up this new and innovative industry.”
